Elizabeth Messina has a BFA in Graphic Design from Rhode Island School of Design. She worked as an artist and features page designer for The Hartford Courant until 1992 and won numerous awards from The Society of Newspaper Designers for her design, illustration and informational graphics.
She served as Art Director for Metropolitan Hartford Magazine and the '94/'95 State of Connecticut Vacation Guide and developed other publications for Hartford Publishing Group. Elizabeth is currently art director for The Commuters' Register and "A Page From History", a special series running in The Hartford Courant.
With the birth of their first child in 1994, Beth and Rich established Messina Design - a home-based graphics consulting firm.

Richard Messina attended Central Connecticut State University with a major in Computer Science.
He has worked as a photojournalist since1985 and is currently employed by The Hartford Courant as photographer and picture editor.
Rich has won numerous national and local awards for photo coverage of major news events, spot news, features, travel, and sports. Rich is experienced in working with high-quality digital imaging, computer illustration, and photo-retouching as well as Macromedia Director and extensive HTML authoring.

Messina Design has completed many design jobs for varied clients - including book design, marketing and promotional materials, retail packaging, advertising, editorial publications and electronic publishing projects like web sites and interactive cd-roms. We are proud to be able to call upon a vast array of talented artists, writers and marketing experts to help consult on projects as needed.

Beth and Rich live in Connecticut with their amazing genius 4-year old son, Matthew, sunny & bright 18-month Olivia, and their very big and scary watchdog, Nero.
